Adaptive Path is pleased to announce the launch of the Corporation for Public Broadcasting’s (CPB) redesigned and restructured website.

CPB is a private, nonprofit corporation created by Congress in 1967, and is the steward of the federal government’s investment in public broadcasting. It helps support the operations of more than 1,000 locally owned and operated public television and radio stations nationwide, and is the largest single source of funding for research, technology, and program development for public radio, television, and related on-line services.

When CPB came to Adaptive Path in 2004, they were looking to differentiate themselves from the large organizations they fund, and to strengthen their brand image. In particular, they wanted to ease the process of locating information online and to make information about CPB more prominent.

At the time, CPB was often confused with NPR and PBS, two organizations that provide significantly different services. Grants from CPB fund a diverse range of television and radio programs, such as Sesame Street and the miniseries Africans in America, as well as websites like 2001: A Digital Science Odyssey.

Adaptive Path worked with CPB to conduct research, define and segment their audiences, and then restructure and redesign their website into a straightforward resource for the general public, federal government employees, and public broadcasting professionals. The new, streamlined interface gives visitors clear information on grants and lets them search for programs by media, genre, or year.

“Adaptive Path worked closely with CPB to understand our goals and objectives,” said Erik Dunham, CPB’s director of Web services. “Their experience working with nonprofits helped us create a website that supports CPB’s mission while meeting the needs of our users.”
