AP Projects Nominated for Ninth Annual Webbys

Adaptive Path is proud to announce that our work with the United Nations and Creative Commons has received two Webby Award nominations — in the Best Charitable Organization Site and Best Home Page categories.

Our Best Charitable Organization Site nomination comes after two years of intense work, in partnership with Mule Design, to redesign and structurally overhaul the United Nations’s ReliefWeb site. When a disaster occurs anywhere in the world, ReliefWeb is the primary information resource for the humanitarian aid community.

Adaptive Path’s Best Home Page Webby nomination is for our work in attracting a broader audience to the Creative Commons website. Adaptive Path and StopDesign helped launch a complete redesign last November. The new site has greatly furthered the Creative Commons mission to ease copyright restrictions on audio, images, video, original writing, and educational materials.

Jesse Teaches, Speaks, and Drinks in Colorado

Jesse presents his full-day seminar, “The Elements of User Experience” at the Hotel Boulderado (one of our favorite venues in the States.) Whether you live in the Rockies or just want to join us for the day, this should be a great event.

The workshop is almost sold out, so register now to reserve your spot. Contact us to inquire about discounts for non-profit organizations and groups.

Thursday, 28 April 2005, Boulderado Hotel, Boulder, Colorado.

Cocktails at the Catacombs in Boulder, CO

Join Jesse, Bryan (our COO), and our workshop attendees for drinks at Boulder’s famous Catacombs. Meet us at 5:30 p.m. on April 28.

Catacombs is located on the bottom floor of the Hotel Boulderado — 2115 13th Street, Boulder, Colorado.

We hope you’ll stop by and say hi. Just sidle up to the bar with someone who has a workshop badge, and the bartender will be happy to mix up the cocktail of your choice. All on us.

It’s a Whole New Internet

By Janice Fraser

Have you seen Consumating.com? It’s a dating and community site where members write their own self-describing metatags. If you’re looking for an “untrustworthy, Lothario, harem-keeper,” you’ll find Lane Becker (He’s a funny guy). Follow the tags “California, girls, and artist,” and you find Lane’s wife, Courtney Skott. Lane and Courtney were early beta testers.

The site was created by Austin-based developer Ben Brown. Like the makers of del.icio.us, upcoming.org, Flickr, and Wikipedia, Brown is among the vanguard of independent developers defining a new vernacular for the Web.

Jesse Speaks at AIGA Colorado

On April 27, Jesse will be the featured speaker at AIGA Colorado’s monthly meeting. He’ll be speaking on “Brand-Driven IA” at Block 7 at Belmar on 445 South Saulsbury Street in Lakewood. Get details and RSVP at their site.

Jesse Heads to Sydney

In May, Jesse will head to Sydney, Australia to present his full-day workshop, “The Elements of User Experience.”

Jesse’s presentation is part of The Human Centered Design Revolution Conference, produced jointly by Adaptive Path and Australian user-experience firm Different. We anticipate that this conference will be one of the interactive industry’s most valuable and thought-provoking events this year in Australia.

In addition to Jesse’s presentation, Dr. Jianzhong Lu, Internet and intranet manager at BHP Billiton, and Jackie Moyes, head of user research at Different, will discuss case studies and practical experiences, showing how human centered design principles have delivered demonstrable results to some of Australia’s leading companies.

An amazing list of companies has already signed up to attend, and spaces are filling up quickly. Reserve your spot today:

Tuesday, May 17, 2005, Australian Technology Park, Sydney.
