Top Five Adaptive Path Blog Posts Not to Miss
According to Google Analytics, these are the five most trafficked posts in the AP blog (you may have caught them the first time around, but the comments alone are worth a click-back):
#1 A Conversation with Steven Johnson: Jesse James Garrett talks to Steven Johnson (author of Interface Culture and Everything Bad Is Good For You) about the mighty staying power of hypertext, the lingering influences of Firefly and a little something called the “Sleeper Curve.” Check out all three parts.
#2 Conversation with Michael Bierut: Peter Merholz gets down to business with graphic designer Michael Bierut (partner at Pentagram, former president of the AIGA and regular contributor to the Design Observer blog) about the difficulties of striking a balance between the status quo and “design affectation,” beauty and business, a sense of personality and the bottom line. Another three-parter.
#3 You’ve Got Piles: More from Peter Merholz: Sifting through the sadly underwhelming supply of new interface trends.
#4 A New Framework: Todd Wilkens tackles the industry’s mindset shift from “products” to the far more complex “services and systems,” then pitches a rousing new game plan.
#5 Pitfalls of Parity: Brandon Schauer sets his sights (and sites) on ix-naying the dreaded copycat mentality.

A Hearty Welcome to Todd Wilkens
Adaptive Path has experienced an amazing influx of whip-smart new hires over the past year, and the welcome wagon has been struggling to keep up. But in the spirit of “better late than never,” we’re proud to announce the arrival of Todd Wilkens, who joined the team in May. (May! Has it really been that long?)
As AP’s Design Researcher, Todd brings an incredible wealth of research and design experience to the party, from both the academic and commercial realms. Not only has he taught many classes, published many articles and presented at many conferences, but he’s also an accomplished interaction designer; his past projects include online retailers (Walmart.com, NiemanMarcus.com), virtual communities (Epinions.com) and medical informatics (Chiron). Todd holds a Computer Science degree from the University of Texas and a Masters in Sociology from the University of North Carolina, and he is currently teaching (along with Steve Portigal) the “Design Methods and Research” class at California College of Arts. Todd is also the coauthor and former star of a farcical acoustic rock opera.
