Adaptive Path has selected a new CEO
by AP Executive TeamExactly three months ago, we blogged about our CEO search. Being a small but well-connected company, we thought we could forgo excessive executive recruiter fees and, by banging on the pipes in our social network, find the best candidate. (And we have Ross Mayfield to thank for his encouragement.)
170 candidates and many many conversations later, we are thrilled to announce that Michael W. Meyer will be Adaptive Path’s CEO starting July 21. In that original blog post, we said we were looking for “a unique mix of business experience, operational savvy, and leadership qualities.” Well, Michael truly fits the bill. A Harvard MBA, he’s spent the bulk of his professional life working in product strategy and design, first with IDEO, then on his own, and most recently as a general manager with frog design. His operational prowess was most recently tested in combining frog’s San Francisco and Palo Alto offices (affecting over 100 people), and, hearing from our friends who work there, that merger has gone surprisingly smoothly.
Just as important, we found Michael to be a cultural fit, bringing a similar casual intensity and sense of humor to his work. We also love that he shares our passion for advancing the field and sharing his knowledge — for the past few years he’s taught courses in New Product Development at the Rady School of Management at UCSD.
As you can probably tell, we’re pretty excited to have Michael join us. We believe that his contribution to our executive team will help us achieve our full potential as Adaptive Path evolves. And of course, we’re looking forward to his participation in all kinds of Adaptive Path activities, from posting here on the blog to being part of UX Week in San Francisco this August.
