IDEA Conference: Less Than 2 weeks!
by petermeThis will be my final plug for the IDEA Conference, a cross-discplinary design event I’m organizing.
Taking place October 23-24 at Seattle’s awesome new Central Library, this promises to be unlike other conferences. We will be exploring a common theme, the design of complex information spaces, with speakers from a variety of perspectives — web design, museum design, exhibit design, information visualization, media arts, librarianship, and more. The point is to cross boundaries and learn from one another, to benefit from a broader view, to free ourselves from our limited orientations.
Read the presentation abstracts to get a sense of the breadth of the discussion.
The speakers are: Jake Barton (exhibit design, Local Projects), Dave Cronin (interaction design, Cooper), Paul Gould (communication design, MAYA), David Guiney (exhibit planning and design, National Park Service), Dan Hill (interaction design, BBC) Deborah Jacobs (City Librarian for Seattle), Robert Kalin (interaction design, Etsy), Michal Migurski (information visualization, Stamen), Alison Sant (media artist), Bruce Sterling (visionary and author), Linda Stone (visionary and consultant), Fernanda Viegas (information visualization, IBM Research), Ed Vielmetti (Superpatron), and Ian White (geospatial data, Urban Mapping).
