Capturing Ideas
by Andrew CrowMy commute to work is lengthy: 5-hours (if the CHP are sleeping). So, needless to say, I have a lot of time to think and wonder about work and life. For those of you who have the privilege of driving the 5 freeway between Los Angeles and San Francisco, you know how unbelievably boring that route can be.
Along the way, I’ve come up with some brilliant ideas for blog posts, products and solutions to user experience issues. These ideas could make millions of dollars…millions. But somewhere between filling up on gas and driving by the cows near Harris Ranch, I forget them all.
So my question to you is, what techniques do you use to remember ideas? Do you write them down immediately? Do you carry a digital recorder? What habits have you developed that help you record those moments of brilliance?
Cataloging creativity is a difficult thing to do. I am always looking for ways to encapsulate an idea before I get distracted with email or phone calls, or cow’s eyes…peering out from the dark. I’d love to hear about your successes.
With your help, I can make millions of dollars.
