Small Problem, Cute Solution

by Dan

I’m a tea drinker, not a coffee drinker. Tea requires a little more observation than coffee to make, since you have to leave your tea bag in the hot water for a set amount of time. I frequently make a cup of tea, set it aside to brew, and go back to whatever I was doing. Too frequently, this leads to bitter or cold tea, since I tend to forget about it, even when the mug is sitting three inches from me.

As problems go, it’s pretty minor, now but there’s now a small solution: Cuppa by Nathan Cosgrey. It’s a Mac application that you engage when you pour the water over the tea. It’s basically a timer that times the tea (with different settings for different types of teas) and then alerts you when it is done brewing.

Something more ambient (like a mug or teapot that glows when the tea is done) might be more to my liking, but for now, this is a nice little solution to a common problem.
