Adaptive Path Provides Design Strategy for MySpace Relaunch Adaptive Path is proud to have worked on the design of the revamped MySpace.com, scheduled to launch globally on Wednesday, June 18. Adaptive Path’s partnership with MySpace was announced last Thursday by TechCrunch.
In a project spanning more than nine months, Adaptive Path’s team of experience strategists and designers worked in close partnership with developers at MySpace to reimagine the MySpace experience and deliver design improvements across five major site areas: the MySpace home page; a global navigation system; site-wide search functionality; the user profile editor; and an embedded video module.
“This redesign represents some of the most challenging and exciting work we’ve ever had the opportunity to engage in,” said Ryan Freitas, Experience Design Director at Adaptive Path and leader of the Adaptive Path team on the project.
The June 18 relaunch of MySpace, the largest scale effort ever undertaken for a site its size, is only the first wave of innovation to come out of the partnership between Adaptive Path and MySpace, with more changes for the world’s most popular social network rolling out in the coming months.
“We’re tremendously excited about our ongoing collaboration with the MySpace team to help them deliver an even better experience to their millions of devoted users,” said Jesse James Garrett, President and co-founder of Adaptive Path. “This relaunch clearly reflects MySpace’s commitment to innovation and user empowerment,” Garrett said.
Part of Fox Interactive Media, a division of News Corp. (NWS and NWS.A), MySpace is the most trafficked website in the United States and the number one social networking site on the Web.

We're On the Lookout for a CEO
San Francisco — There’s a lot of activity around Adaptive Path these days. With the release of our book “Subject to Change”, our upcoming events rapidly selling out, our growing presence in Austin, and our expanding range of interesting projects for clients around the world — there’s more going on here than ever. With all of the opportunities opening up for the company, we’ve decided the time is right to add a new perspective. That’s why we’re announcing that we’re on the lookout for a CEO to add to our executive team.
Our executive team works to keep Adaptive Path growing culturally, creatively, and financially and we don’t want to replace any of the current executives. We want to add someone with a unique mix of business experience, operational savvy, and leadership qualities. We’d like someone to help us build on our successes, and make the most of our exceptional opportunities, without sacrificing the culture and values that have made our success possible. If you think you know the right person for this job (even if that’s you), send an email to bryan[dot]mason[at]adaptivepath[dot]com. We’d love to hear from you!

Don Norman's Praise for Subject To Change
San Francisco — Don Norman recently praised our new book, Subject To Change: “Short, but powerful. Easy to read, yet profound.” He went on to say “I have been searching for just this book: The one perfect book that summarizes the essence of modern product design. This is it. The lessons are as powerful as they are simple: The product is NOT the goal. Successful products are systems. Focus on the experience. This requires empathy, agile product management, real understanding of the target audience. This book practices what it preaches. I will use it in my courses for MBA students. You should use it for, well, for everyone. Short, simple, persuasive, and powerful.” Read more »
